Dry hair is a definite no-no, boo-boo! Hair needs some type of moisture in order to maintain a style. The use of water, oil, and curling/styling products can effectively change what you'll wake up to in the morning. If there is not enough product applied to your hair prior to styling, your hair may feel a little rough, especially if you haven't really been keeping up with or maintaining your hair's moisture levels. Check out the L.O.C. Method.
Disclaimer: When taking down your hair for the day, you want to make sure it's dry! Wet hair will frizz!
Is It Too Moisturized?
Yes, there is such a thing! Ingredients like glycerin are found in many hair styling products, like the Shea Moisture Line. Glycerin attracts moisture that is in the air into your hair to maintain moisture. If used in the summer or on a really humid day, too much of this can lead to frizz. And if that is not the look you're going for, you will definitely be having a bad hair day! But don't be quick to swear off all glycerin-containing products! Glycerin is good for keeping our hair moisturized on those particularly hair-drying seasons like fall and winter. Just be conscious of how much and when you use those certain products.
Aside from glycerin, using too much of one product or dumping a ton of different products onto your hair for one style is not wise! Go get your Heavy Hand Syndrome checked out! Too much of a product can ruin a style - for one, it can make your hair revert to its shrunken stage if your hair was already stretched. In my experience, not only has my hair shrunk, but it also became rough and matted. Ain't no body tryna rock that look!
Is It The Style?
Now before you touch that twistout, braid-out, bantu-knot out, flat-twistout, etc., is it really doomed or can it be salvaged? Step out of your emotions and consider that fact that, yeah you wanted to wear your hair down today, but it might look good in that tuck n' roll style you watched on YouTube by Godzdesign1. We as women have a tendency to criticize things that are perfectly okay! Don't be clouded by your own harsh judgement. Manipulate your hair, use a few bobby pins or some side combs. That hat might just be staying home today.
Now after you've reflected on your mistakes, you'll have better luck before your next bad hair day, because, trust me, no matter what you do, you will definitely have a few!
